Overview
- Taveon Hargrove, 23, was taken into custody in North Chesterfield, Virginia, by the US Marshals’ Regional Fugitive Task Force.
- Surveillance footage shows Hargrove and an accomplice ambushing a 27-year-old off-duty officer near St. Peters Avenue at knifepoint, inflicting multiple facial fractures, and he remains hospitalized but is expected to fully recover.
- The attackers fled with the officer’s Glock 19 9mm handgun, wallet and iPhone before dispersing.
- Jeffrey Hargrove, 55, was charged with petty larceny for using the victim’s stolen credit card at Bronx bodegas shortly after the assault.
- Authorities have identified the second assailant as Wayne Lucas and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch has pledged full departmental resources to apprehend him.
