Overview

• A 42-year-old Michigan man allegedly began stabbing customers in the self-checkout area at about 4:43 p.m. on July 26, injuring 11 people with a folding knife.
• A Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputy and bystanders—including an armed civilian—subdued and arrested the suspect within minutes of the first 911 call.
• All victims were transported to Munson Medical Center, where six remain in critical condition and five are listed as serious.
• Sheriff Michael Shea said the attacker acted alone in what appeared to be random acts, with no evidence of additional suspects.
