Overview

  • Raymond Boodarian, 22, was charged July 17 with two counts of first-degree murder carrying special circumstance allegations of multiple killings and homicide during a burglary
  • Prosecutors say Boodarian entered the unlocked home of 14-season American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, singer-songwriter Thomas DeLuca, on July 10 and shot them when they returned from a grocery run
  • Officers who responded to a July 10 burglary report at the Encino residence saw no signs of forced entry and left before the couple’s deaths were discovered
  • Neighbors initiated a welfare check on July 15 that led police to find the victims’ bodies inside their heavily fortified home
  • Investigators have recovered a handgun believed to be the murder weapon and are reviewing surveillance footage while awaiting forensic results
