Overview

• Police responded late on July 18 to a disturbance at a Wainwright residence where three junior military members and a civilian engaged in a brawl.
• RCMP have charged a 23-year-old man with two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of weapon possession for a dangerous purpose.
• Both soldiers, posted at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, received treatment locally and one was transferred to Edmonton for specialized care and are expected to recover.
• Canadian Armed Forces spokeswoman Lt.-Col. Lena Angell said military leadership will fully cooperate with the RCMP investigation and enforce disciplinary measures as required.
• CFB Wainwright, one of Canada’s largest training bases, has activated both civilian law enforcement and internal disciplinary protocols in response to the incident.
