Suspect Captured in Shooting of Georgia Police Captain

A resident’s tip led officers to Timothy Craig Ramsey after an overnight manhunt.

A BLUE ALERT has been issued for Timothy Craig Ramsey, age 26. Ramsey is wanted for injuring McCaysville Police Captain Brantley Worley that occurred on Sept.12, 2025, at 11:10 p.m. on 1st Street in McCaysville, GA. (GBI)

Overview

  • Ramsey, 26, was arrested around 6 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area near a church after a local recognized him.
  • He was booked into the Fannin County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer and is due in court Monday.
