Suspect Arrested in Violent Block Family Custody Dispute
A 35-year-old man is in custody for allegedly aiding in the abduction of Christina Block's children from Denmark to Germany on New Year’s Eve.
- The suspect, holding Portuguese and Israeli citizenship, was arrested in Cyprus in September under an international warrant and is now in Hamburg awaiting trial.
- The abduction occurred during a long-running custody battle between Christina Block, heir to the Block House restaurant chain, and her ex-husband, Stephan Hensel.
- The children, aged 11 and 14 at the time, were forcibly taken from their father’s custody in Denmark and brought to Germany in a coordinated operation.
- Investigations are also ongoing against Christina Block and her father, Eugen Block, for allegedly orchestrating the abduction, which both deny.
- German courts have ruled that the children’s primary residence is now in Denmark, a decision Block has challenged with a constitutional complaint in Karlsruhe.
