Suspect Arrested in Double Homicide of Young Couple in Calvados

The suspect, apprehended near Calais, is accused of killing two 20-year-olds and burying their bodies in his garden.

The bodies of Maëva Gazé and Martin Delamare, both 20 years old, were discovered on January 23 in the garden of a house in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains, Calvados.
The suspect, a man in his 30s, was arrested in the early hours of January 25 near Calais after a car chase and crash; he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time.
Authorities believe the killings may have been motivated by a drug-related dispute, as reported by the suspect's mother, who stated her son confessed the crime to her.
An autopsy revealed that Martin suffered a gunshot wound, head trauma, and severe facial injuries; the autopsy for Maëva is scheduled for next week.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of a judge, with the suspect in custody and no weapon yet recovered.
