Suspect Arrested in August Break-In at Trump Campaign Office in Virginia

  • Toby Shane Kessler, a 39-year-old man without a fixed address, was arrested in California for squatting in a university dorm and identified as the suspect in the August burglary of a Trump campaign office in Ashburn, Virginia.
  • The break-in occurred on August 11, when Kessler was caught on surveillance footage forcing entry through the back door of the office, which also serves as the headquarters for Virginia's 10th District Republican Committee.
  • Authorities said Kessler spent a brief period in the office before leaving and noted it remains unclear if anything was taken during the incident.
  • The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for Kessler's arrest shortly after the burglary and worked with other law enforcement agencies to locate him after he left the Washington, D.C., area.
  • Kessler, who has a history of criminal behavior and a California driver’s license, now faces burglary charges in Virginia, in addition to other charges stemming from his arrest in California.
