Overview
- An intruder attacked a married couple inside their Old Spring Road home just after 8 a.m. on Nov. 5, according to Murrieta police.
- The woman reported being stabbed in the head with a screwdriver and said her husband was stabbed with a knife before the assailant fled through the back door.
- Officers found a suspect hiding in a ravine behind a Wild Flower Drive home shortly before 9 a.m. and used a K-9 to take him into custody.
- Police identified the suspect as Manuel Arturo Alvarez, 36, of Modesto, who was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of homicide and attempted homicide.
- Authorities have not released the victims’ names or a motive, and they are seeking tips from the public, with the suspect remaining in custody after treatment for K-9-related injuries.
