Overview

• LAPD responded around 1:30 p.m. to the area of 23rd Street and Arlington Avenue, where a man was found in a front yard and was later declared dead.
• As officers approached the victim, a suspect inside the residence opened fire on them, prompting officers to return fire before the suspect barricaded inside.
• SWAT deployed armored BearCat vehicles, K9 units, a robot and on-scene mental-health personnel during a multi-hour operation.
• The standoff ended shortly after 9 p.m. when the suspect was taken into custody without further incident, according to police.
