Suspect Arrested After Firing at Chicago Police During North Side Pursuit

The chase began after a 16th District traffic stop attempt in Jefferson Park led to two squad car collisions.

  • Police say an officer tried to stop a Jeep just before 4:10 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when the driver struck the marked squad car and fled.
  • During the escape, the driver fired at least one shot that hit a squad car, and officers did not return fire.
  • The fleeing vehicle crashed into a second marked squad car in the 4500 block of North Meade Avenue, after which the driver ran from the scene.
  • Officers took the suspect into custody a short time later in the 6100 block of West Eastwood Avenue, and no injuries were reported.
  • A firearm was recovered from the Jeep, and Area Five detectives are investigating with charges pending.
