Suspect Arrested After Firing at Chicago Police and Hitting 2 Squad Cars in Northwest Side Chase

Charges are pending with Area 5 detectives leading the case after a pursuit through Jefferson Park and Portage Park.

  • Police say an officer attempted a traffic stop around 4:10 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when the Jeep driver rammed a marked squad car and fled.
  • During the pursuit, the driver fired at least one shot that struck a police vehicle, and officers did not return fire.
  • The fleeing vehicle later crashed into a second marked squad car in the 4500 block of North Meade Avenue before the driver ran off.
  • The suspect was taken into custody a short time later in the 6100 block of West Eastwood Avenue, and no injuries were reported.
  • A firearm was recovered from the Jeep, and investigators said charges were pending Monday evening.
