Survey Finds Most UK Millionaires Prefer Life Abroad as Wealth Tax Talk Grows

  • The Arton Capital/Walr survey polled 1,009 UK residents with net worths of at least £1 million between 31 July and 8 August, counting homes in asset values.
  • Top relocation targets were the US (35%), Canada (33%), Australia (25%) and the UAE (17%), with about 82% expressing interest in investor residency ‘golden visas’.
  • The government has scrapped the non‑dom regime; the OBR expected up to a quarter of non‑doms to depart, and early payroll signs reported by The Times suggest departures are in line or lower.
  • Separate research projected a record loss of 16,500 UK millionaires over 12 months, even as two‑thirds of respondents still see Britain as an attractive place to invest.
