• Vantage Point Counseling Services surveyed 1,012 U.S. adults and found about 53% reported some kind of relationship with AI, including friendships, work roles or confidants.
• Among platforms, ChatGPT led for perceived connection, followed by Character.ai, Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri and Google’s Gemini.
• Adults in human relationships were more likely to explore AI intimacy, with over half of those reporting intimate AI ties also describing their human partnerships as successful and committed.
• Views on fidelity diverged by age, as most 18–29-year-olds labeled AI intimacy as cheating while about half of adults 60 and older did not consider it cheating.
