Overview
- Baljinder “Binder” Singh Garcha, 46, was found just after noon on Jan. 13 with gunshot wounds in the 3500 block of 176 Street in South Surrey and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken conduct of the case and says early findings do not indicate a link to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.
- Shortly after the shooting, officers responded to a vehicle fire in the 18900 block of 40th Street and investigators believe the burned vehicle is related to the homicide.
- Authorities have not announced a motive, suspects, or arrests and they ask anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the listed areas between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Jan. 13 to contact IHIT.
- Garcha was a well-known Surrey entrepreneur in the Punjabi community, and his death is the third killing reported in the Lower Mainland within five days, heightening public concern.
