• Vikas Kumar Shah was detained in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex on Monday night and brought to Surat for further proceedings, police said.

• Amroli police in Surat first registered a kidnapping complaint on August 21, and the case was later upgraded to murder after forensic reports indicated sharp-force injuries and ruled out sexual assault.
• Investigators from Surat Crime Branch, Amroli police, GRP, RPF and Mumbai units coordinated searches across cities using CCTV footage and mobile-location data.
• Police are tracing the suspect’s movements through Dadar, Vidyavihar, Bandra and LTT, and the exact location and sequence of the killing remain under investigation.
