Overview
- On October 14, a bench of Justices P.S. Narasimha and A.S. Chandurkar recorded satisfaction with the UPSC’s move and called it a positive development.
- UPSC will release a provisional key after the preliminary exam, invite objections from candidates, and place them before subject experts to finalize answers used for results.
- Each objection must cite at least three authoritative sources, with the Commission determining whether the sources qualify.
- The Supreme Court disposed of the petitions, allowed simultaneous representation, and left petitioners free to approach jurisdictional High Courts for individual relief.
- UPSC reversed its May position in a September affidavit, will implement the change expeditiously, and has not accepted requests for automatic mains entry as remedial relief.
