Overview
- A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant granted the SIT two months to finish the inquiry after rejecting its request for three months and took the October 26 status report on record.
- Investigators were told to examine chief executive officers and other senior NOIDA officials from the past 10–15 years, including scrutiny of bank accounts, properties and transactions of officers and law officers.
- The court reiterated that farmers who received higher payments will not face penalties or coercive measures during the probe.
- An earlier report found enhanced compensation was paid in 1,198 cases against 1,167 court-authorised cases and flagged 20 apparently illegal excess payments, leading to a reconstituted three-IPS SIT with forensic and Economic Offences Wing support.
- After irregularities tied to Gejha Tilaptabad, including an alleged ₹7.28 crore wrongful payout in one case, NOIDA revised its process so additional compensation is deposited with the Land and Reference Court for verification.
