Overview

• On May 21, a practising lawyer alleges she was sexually assaulted and detained overnight at Gurugram’s Sector 50 police station while accompanying a client in a matrimonial dispute.
• She filed a zero FIR at Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi station on May 22, but the case was transferred back to Gurugram where the accused officers serve.
• In her Supreme Court petition, the advocate seeks to move the investigation out of Gurugram and establish an independent SIT to ensure impartiality.
• Gurugram police have registered a retaliatory FIR against the lawyer, accusing her of obstructing public servants and causing grievous hurt.
