Supreme Court Extends NOIDA Payout Probe by Two Months, Orders Scrutiny of Past CEOs

Farmers remain protected from coercive action pending a forensic review of officials’ assets by the SIT.

Overview

  • The bench took the SIT’s October 26 status report on record and granted two more months to finish the inquiry after the team sought three.
  • The SIT was directed to investigate former NOIDA chief executives and others who led the authority over the past 10–15 years.
  • The probe will include forensic examination of bank accounts, assets and transactions of officials, their family members and beneficiaries with support from EOW experts and auditors.
  • Interim protection for landowners who received higher payments will continue, with the Court clarifying that no coercive action will be taken against them.
  • NOIDA was permitted to file an affidavit, and officials said additional compensation is now routed through the Land and Reference Court for judicial verification.
