Overview

• UPSC will release provisional answer keys soon after the Civil Services Preliminary Examination and invite objections from candidates.
• Each objection must be backed by at least three authoritative sources, with unsupported submissions liable to summary rejection.
• A team of subject experts will review objections and finalise the keys used for prelims results, with the final key published after the entire recruitment process concludes.
• The Supreme Court disposed of the petitions but granted liberty to seek retrospective remedies before jurisdictional High Courts, including re-evaluation, compensatory attempts or objection windows.
• The court noted UPSC's reversal from its earlier opposition in May to a September commitment, and the Commission said it would implement the new mechanism expeditiously.
