Overview

  • On August 18–19 the court will convene its closing plenary under the three-decade-old structure established in 1995.
  • Justices are set to resolve impugnations filed by Claudio X. González–linked organizations against two magistrates of the Electoral Tribunal.
  • The June 1 popular vote produced the first-ever elected cohort of judges, magistrates and ministers scheduled to begin their terms on September 1.
  • A ceremonial investiture will see minister-elect Hugo Aguilar Ortiz receive the traditional bastón de mando ahead of the institutional handover.
  • The 2024 constitutional reform replaces the two-Sala system with a single nine-member plenary, sets 12-year nonpensioned terms and introduces popular selection for future appointments.
