Supreme Court Collegium Recommends New Chief Justices for Patna, Meghalaya and Manipur High Courts

The nominations now await Union government approval.

  • Justice Soumen Sen, the senior-most puisne judge of the Calcutta High Court, is recommended to lead the Meghalaya High Court.
  • Justice M. Sundar, the senior-most puisne judge of the Madras High Court, is nominated for the Manipur High Court with the incumbent set to retire on September 14.
  • Patna, Meghalaya and Manipur have recently operated under acting or interim chiefs, and the moves continue efforts to restore stable leadership across high courts.
