- Smith made history as the first-ever trans man to compete on Survivor, and Santos is well-known for his roles in Superstore and Crazy Rich Asians. The two met nearly six years ago at the GLAAD Media Awards and got engaged at the same event in 2022.
- The ceremony was officiated by actor Mark McKinney with a host of A-list guests in attendance, including Superstore creator Justin Spitzer, several of the show's cast members, and former Survivor contestants Hannah Shapiro and Bret LaBelle.
- In line with their 'silly, bougie' wedding theme, the celebration incorporated various elements from their respective backgrounds, including Filipino design aesthetics and Western movie-themed posters. Highlights included a performance by a drag Dolly Parton and a group singing of 'The Greatest Love of All'.
- After their wedding, the couple is celebrating a 'mini-moon' in Joshua Tree before planning a larger honeymoon trip through Italy – from Rome to the Amalfi Coast to Tuscany – in the following year.
