Despite the longest Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood history, 'Superman: Legacy' will maintain its original release date of July 11, 2025, thanks to the efforts of the crew who continued to work during the strikes.
The film, directed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, will introduce David Corenswet as the new Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, marking the launch of a rebooted DC Universe at Warner Bros.
The project was largely unaffected by the 2023 production delays due to its 2025 release date, and because the script was already written and the castings announced before the strikes began.
The plot of 'Superman: Legacy' will focus on a younger iteration of the character than Henry Cavill played, with Gunn expressing his personal connection to the material and his love for Superman.
