Overview
- The 200-tonne transformer reached Overton Substation by early afternoon on July 6 under escort from Cleveland Police’s Matrix unit.
 - Matrix officers coordinated rolling road closures along the A1053, A174 and A19 to guide the specialist 80-metre-long vehicle.
 - Cleveland Police advised drivers to plan alternative routes to avoid delays caused by the slow-moving abnormal load.
 - The delivery forms part of National Grid’s Yorkshire GREEN project to strengthen regional energy transmission infrastructure.
 - Eight more supergrid transformers are slated for delivery to Overton and nearby Monk Fryston substations between August and October.
