Overview

  • On June 25, the regulator identified butylphenyl methylpropional, known as lilial and banned since 2022, in five Soulcal & Co 236ml body mists.
  • Affected scents include Raspberry & Lotus Blossom, Mango & Passion Fruit, Apple & Waterlily, Coco Plum & Jacaranda and Beach Rose & Coconut Water.
  • Superdrug removed the products from its website and shelves, and Farmfoods also withdrew the Chinese-made sprays from sale.
  • Customers are urged to stop using the body mists immediately and return them to stores for a full refund.
  • Lilial has been linked to reproductive system harm, risks to unborn children and potential skin sensitisation.
