- Nintendo announced the upgraded version during the September 12 Nintendo Direct under the title Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup in Bellabel Park.
- Bellabel Park serves as a new multiplayer plaza that hosts a range of minigames for local or online play.
- Competitive modes shown include a coin-collecting race, a Smash Bros.–style bubble battle, and a prop-hunt–like tag game where players disguise themselves.
- Cooperative activities include a Bob-omb Relay, a mode where one player places blocks for teammates to traverse gaps, and synchronized jumps to raise platforms.
