Super Mario Bros. Wonder Breaks Record as Fastest Selling Game in Series with 4.3 Million Units Sold in Two Weeks

The new Super Mario Bros. game makes history, boosted by success of the recent Super Mario Bros. Movie, with Nintendo projecting strong sales in the holiday season and onward.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder sets a record by selling over 4.3 million units globally within two weeks of its launch, making it the fastest-selling game in the Super Mario Bros. series.
The sales success of Super Mario Bros. Wonder is partly attributed to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which has grossed $1.36 billion globally, making it the highest-grossing video game and animated movie of all time.
Since the DS and Wii generation, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the fastest-selling game, however, sales data of previous generations are undefined.
Nintendo anticipates that the game will retain its appeal and continue to sell during the holiday season and beyond due to the consistent sales performance of Super Mario related titles.
Nintendo is expected to maintain its success with upcoming Mario-related releases such as the Super Mario RPG remake, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Princess Peach Showtime, and the HD remaster of Luigi's Mansion 2.
This record-breaking sales performance followed Nintendo’s announcement that the Nintendo Switch had surpassed 132 million units sold, driven in part by successful first-party releases like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4.
