Suozzi and Pilip Rally for Israeli Hostages Amid Special Election Campaign

The candidates set aside their political rivalry to support the cause, as the race for the 3rd Congressional District seat heats up.

Tom Suozzi and Mazi Melesa Pilip, the Democratic and Republican candidates respectively for the 3rd Congressional District seat, appeared together at a rally for Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
The special election for the seat, previously held by disgraced ex-Rep. George Santos, is set for February 13.
Suozzi, a moderate Democrat, is well-known in the district, having represented most of it for three terms before a failed bid for governor in 2022.
Pilip, an Israeli immigrant and political newcomer, has won two straight terms in a Democratic-leaning district in the Nassau County legislature.
The only poll of the district so far shows Suozzi with a narrow lead.
