Sunset Studios Opens Camera-Ready Standing Sets for Vertical Microdramas

The on-lot, pre-lit environments provide faster production access, reduced set waste and studio services under SAG-AFTRA’s new vertical media agreement.

Overview

  • Sunset Studios announced the launch of standing sets at its Sunset Las Palmas lot that are pre-lit, fully built and available for pre-booking inside an 8,000-square-foot soundstage.
  • The collection includes camera-ready environments such as a courtroom, apartment, bar/restaurant, hospital and office that were repurposed from prior major productions to cut waste and extend asset life.
  • The sets remove typical friction by letting creators start shooting immediately without separate filming permits and with access to on-site parking, production support space and an on-site café.
  • Knockout Shorts helped design the sets and is reported to be producing at least one microdrama that will use SAG-AFTRA’s newly established vertical media production agreement.
  • The May 27, 2026 launch reflects a broader industry shift toward 60–90 second serialized vertical storytelling and signals incumbent studios investing in infrastructure and workflows for mobile-first narrative production.
