Overview
- The Phoenix Suns agreed June 22 to send 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five future second-round selections.
- The deal was unveiled onstage at Fanatics Fest in New York City and cannot be finalized until the new league year begins on July 6 because of a poison-pill clause in Green’s rookie extension.
- Houston, which went 52-30 last season, will pair Durant with All-Star center Alperen Şengün, rising guard Amen Thompson and veteran Fred VanVleet under coach Ime Udoka.
- By offloading Durant’s $54.7 million expiring salary, Phoenix gains salary flexibility, adds young talent and stockpiles draft assets to rebuild around Devin Booker.
- Durant, surprised by the announcement, responded “We’re gonna see” onstage and will be eligible to negotiate a two-year extension once the trade is official.
