Suns Exercise Ryan Dunn’s Third-Year Option, Locking In 2026–27

The low-cost decision preserves flexibility for an evaluation year before a pricier fourth-year call in 2026.

Overview

  • Phoenix announced on Oct. 2 that it picked up the third-year team option on second-year forward Ryan Dunn, the No. 28 pick in the 2024 draft.
  • The option guarantees Dunn $2.8 million for the 2026–27 season under his rookie-scale deal.
  • Next fall, the Suns must either exercise a roughly $5 million fourth year or decline it and enter restricted free agency dynamics with about an $8 million qualifying offer and a $15 million cap hold.
  • As a rookie, Dunn played 74 games with 44 starts, averaging 6.9 points and shooting 31.1% from three and 48.7% at the free-throw line.
  • Evaluation now shifts to the 2025–26 preseason and regular season, beginning with Friday’s exhibition against the Lakers in Palm Desert.
