Overview

  • Varun Aaron retired from representative cricket in January 2025 following Jharkhand’s Vijay Hazare Trophy exit and featured in nine Tests and nine ODIs for India between 2011 and 2015.
  • Aaron took 44 wickets in 52 IPL matches and has served as both an MRF Pace Foundation consultant and a TV pundit since hanging up his boots.
  • He succeeds James Franklin—who coached the SRH fast bowlers in 2024–25—and follows Dale Steyn in the role over the past three seasons.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad won just six of 14 matches in IPL 2025, finishing sixth on the points table and missing out on the playoffs for the second year running.
  • The 35-year-old will work under head coach Daniel Vettori as SRH looks to address its bowling deficiencies ahead of next year’s campaign.
