Overview

  • CBI’s International Police Cooperation Unit, working with Interpol’s NCB-Baku, brought the alleged Aman Sahu gang operative back on August 23 after his October 2024 arrest in Datu.
  • Jharkhand ATS says he will be produced before a Ramgarh court as police seek remand to question him in extortion investigations.
  • Authorities identify him as Sunil Kumar, who used the alias Mayank Singh, with probes alleging extortion calls from Baku and suspected links to the Lawrence Bishnoi network.
  • Officials say more than 50 criminal cases are registered against him across Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Punjab.
  • ATS SP Rishav Kumar Jha described this as Jharkhand Police’s first successful extradition, following an Interpol Red Notice last October and a January 7 extradition request.
