SunFed Cucumbers Recalled in U.S. and Canada Over Salmonella Contamination

The recall affects cucumbers sold in 26 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces, linked to 68 reported illnesses so far.

  • SunFed Produce has voluntarily recalled whole fresh cucumbers sold between October 12 and November 26 due to potential salmonella contamination.
  • The cucumbers, grown in Mexico by Agrotato S.A. de C.V., were distributed in 26 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces through retail and food service outlets.
  • The Centers for Disease Control has linked the contaminated cucumbers to 68 reported salmonella cases across 19 states, with 18 hospitalizations and no deaths reported.
  • Consumers are advised to dispose of the recalled cucumbers, sanitize surfaces, and contact their retailer if unsure about the product’s origin.
  • Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, with severe cases posing risks to children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
