The head-to-head numbers favour Mamelodi Sundowns, but Golden Arrows have already beaten them this season. And with the CAF Super Cup looming, there’s plenty riding on Tuesday’s Carling Knockout clash!

Overview

  • Sundowns were knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Wiliete SC last month and have publicly reframed the season toward domestic targets.
  • The team won consecutive matches after the exit, including a 4-1 victory over Durban City that reclaimed the Betway Premiership top spot.
  • Coach Miguel Cardoso says the club is prioritising the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final on Tuesday and the CAF Super Cup that follows to build momentum.
  • Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams’ availability is uncertain and could affect both Sundowns’ selection and Bafana Bafana’s plans for upcoming internationals.
  • Opponents and coaches note Sundowns’ deep squad and experience make them dangerous despite the setback and the club is asking fans for positive support as it pursues domestic silverware.
