Overview
- A Newcastle Crown Court jury found Adam Ahmed guilty of attempting to murder housemate Leon Askew and of wounding Robert Graham with intent.
- Prosecutors said Ahmed came up behind Askew as he spoke to his mother on the phone, pulled his head back and stabbed him in the neck before chasing and stabbing his arms.
- Moments later, Ahmed stabbed Graham in the stomach upstairs at the same multi-occupancy address, causing a bowel injury.
- In a police interview, Ahmed said he wanted to kill Askew, and the court heard he had hallucinated that the men were talking about him.
- He was arrested at the scene, police described the incident as isolated between people who knew each other, both victims were treated in hospital and discharged, and sentencing is set for January 30.
