Overview

  • Employees who complete one year of continuous service with an employer in July or August are entitled to paid vacation and a vacation premium of at least 25% of their salary.
  • The vacation bonus is calculated by multiplying an employee’s daily wage by their entitled vacation days and then applying the 25% rate.
  • Employers must disburse the prima vacacional when workers take their leave and cannot defer or reduce the payment.
  • The Procuraduría Federal de la Defensa del Trabajo offers free assistance and arbitration for workers whose employers withhold the required bonus.
  • Workers who do not receive their vacation premium can file a Profedet complaint for up to one year after their entitlement arises.
