Sumibiyaki Arashi and Sushi Hyun Earn Michelin Stars in Vancouver’s 2025 Guide

The city’s count now stands at 12 starred restaurants after a low-turnover year.

Overview

  • Chef Peter Ho’s 14-seat yakitori counter Sumibiyaki Arashi in Mount Pleasant and Chef Juhyun Lee’s omakase-focused Sushi Hyun downtown each received one star.
  • Good Thief was named a Bib Gourmand, and its bar manager Vysion Elter won the Michelin Exceptional Cocktail Award.
  • Elem and Nero Tondo were newly added to the Guide as Recommended restaurants.
  • All ten previously starred Vancouver restaurants kept their one-star ratings, bringing the totals to 12 one-star venues and 15 Bib Gourmand listings.
  • Both new stars highlight Japanese cuisine and reinforce the Main Street “Michelin Mile” cluster, with the Michelin–Destination Vancouver partnership set for review after its five-year term ends next year.
