Sukhu Unveils ₹383-Crore Works in Doon, Announces PWD Division and Hospital Upgrade

The chief minister used a one-day tour to couple project rollouts with a pledge to protect state resources.

Overview

  • He inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 12 projects totaling ₹383 crore, including the ₹86 crore Baddi–Sai–Ramshehar road and a ₹73.21 crore power supply scheme for Baddi.
  • New commitments included a Public Works Department division for the Doon constituency, upgrading Baddi Civil Hospital to 100 beds, ₹25 crore for an SDM office, and ₹10 crore for a sports stadium.
  • Sukhu said the state returned ₹30 crore received from the Centre for the bulk drug park and would develop the project independently to safeguard Himachal’s interests.
  • He accused the previous BJP government of granting 5,000 bighas to industrial houses for ₹1.12 crore, waiving duties and utilities, and said it left debt of ₹75,000 crore, while claiming BJP’s social media cell is targeting him.
  • The visit also featured relief and PMAY-G payments to local beneficiaries, a plan for large-scale recruitments after dissolving the recruitment commission over leaks, and a shift of Baddi-area schools to the CBSE curriculum with a new bus stand proposed.
