Suicide Bombers Attack Peshawar Paramilitary HQ, Three FC Personnel Killed

A swift security response stopped the attackers from reaching a morning parade, limiting casualties inside the compound.

Overview

  • Police said one bomber blew himself up at the main gate around 8:10 a.m. local time and at least one blast also hit the motorcycle parking area inside the Federal Constabulary headquarters.
  • Security forces killed the remaining attackers during a clearance operation, with officials reporting 11 people wounded, including both personnel and civilians, and all in stable condition at Lady Reading Hospital.
  • The FC, police and army sealed surrounding roads, cordoned the site and completed searches to ensure no unexploded ordnance remained.
  • Officials recovered two suicide vests and multiple hand grenades, and said the attackers appeared to be trying to target personnel assembled for a morning parade.
  • An initial police report identified the attackers as Afghan nationals, a finding now under investigation, and no group had claimed responsibility at the time of reporting.
