Overview
- The backstage meeting took place after BTS’s ARIRANG World Tour stop at SoFi Stadium and was shared by Sugar Ray Leonard in a social post on Thursday, September 10.
- Leonard praised SUGA’s character and performance in the post, calling him kind, humble and down-to-earth and saying the meeting made the night unforgettable.
- Leonard presented SUGA with a boxing glove inscribed, “Love your name! Only legends can carry the name ‘Suga.’”
- SUGA reciprocated by signing and gifting his D‑DAY album to Leonard during the encounter.
- The exchange was framed as a full-circle moment that reinforces SUGA’s 2026 admission that his stage name reflects a boxing-inspired comparison from Bang Si‑hyuk rather than the long-told ‘shooting guard’ story, a detail likely to settle public questions about the name’s origin.
