Suffolk Parkruns Draw Hundreds With Dozens of New Personal Bests

Volunteer teams kept the free community 5K events running smoothly across three venues last weekend.

  • Christchurch Park parkrun in Ipswich drew 366 participants on August 9 with Andrew Headley of Bedford & County AC crossing first in 16:35 in a personal best performance.
  • Kesgrave parkrun at Millennium Field recorded 235 participants for its 506th event and saw William Dunn finish fastest in 19:12 as 17 runners set new personal records.
  • Great Cornard’s 522nd parkrun at Thomas Gainsborough School attracted 129 participants and featured Matthew Petch Cooper of Trent Park Running Club leading the field in 18:56, with 18 personal bests achieved.
  • Organizers credited large volunteer teams at each venue for marshaling, timing and managing the free weekly events.
  • Numerous members of local clubs including Ipswich Harriers, Vegan Running Club and Felixstowe RRC featured among the top finishers, underlining parkrun’s role in Suffolk’s grassroots running scene.
