Overview

  • On June 21 at around 3 p.m., a 27-foot Chris-Craft boat capsized off D.L. Bliss State Park after a sudden storm produced 35–45 mph winds and 6–8 foot swells.
  • Authorities recovered a seventh body Sunday evening, leaving one person still unaccounted for as dive teams continue to search.
  • Two survivors were treated for hypothermia and other injuries after enduring the lake’s 58–59 °F water.
  • Search operations have covered more than 390 square miles and involved the U.S. Coast Guard, California State Parks and county dive teams from El Dorado, Washoe and San Joaquin.
  • The Coast Guard has urged mariners to wear life jackets, file float plans and carry working VHF radios when boating in unpredictable conditions.
