Sudan's RSF Accused of Widespread Sexual Violence and Drone Attacks

Human Rights Watch and UN reports detail war crimes by the RSF, including sexual slavery in South Kordofan, as paramilitaries escalate attacks in Darfur.

  • Human Rights Watch has documented dozens of cases of sexual violence, including gang rape and sexual slavery, committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in South Kordofan since September 2023.
  • Victims, aged 7 to 50, reported being attacked in their homes, often in front of family members, or abducted and held in conditions of enslavement for months.
  • The UN and rights groups have called for urgent international action to protect civilians and deliver justice, labeling the RSF's actions as war crimes and possible crimes against humanity.
  • The RSF has also been accused of escalating violence in Darfur, with a recent drone attack on the city of el-Fasher killing at least 38 people and targeting healthcare facilities.
  • The ongoing conflict between the RSF and Sudan's army has killed tens of thousands, displaced over 11 million people, and created what the UN describes as one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
