Overview

  • More than four million people have fled Sudan since April 2023, with 1.5 million in Egypt, over 1.1 million in South Sudan and more than 850,000 in Chad.
  • Clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have internally displaced about 10.5 million people across Sudan.
  • Attacks in western Darfur have intensified recently, including the siege of el-Fasher, assaults on camps and strikes on aid convoys and medical facilities.
  • Chadian camps meet only 14 percent of shelter needs and provide just five litres of water per person per day, far below the international standard.
  • UN agencies warn that chronic funding gaps and concurrent crises in host countries risk crippling life-saving assistance and may destabilize the region further.
