Overview
- Fifteen bus lines in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area now accept alternative payments beyond the physical and digital SUBE.
- The newly enabled routes include national lines 49, 57, 78, 86, 87, 88, 93, 97, 111, 127, 130, 180 and 193, plus provincial lines 249 and 410, with additional municipal services in Esteban Echeverría, Ituzaingó, Presidente Perón, Merlo, Almirante Brown and Lomas de Zamora.
- Accepted options include contactless Visa and Mastercard debit, credit and prepaid cards, NFC-enabled phones and watches linked to those cards, QR codes from enabled wallets, and the SUBE card in physical or digital form.
- Riders tap a contactless card or NFC device after indicating their destination, while QR users generate a code in a compatible app and point it at the reader beneath the validator screen.
- Santa Fe has started replacing decade-old validators to enable QR, contactless card and NFC payments alongside SUBE, with installation and system setup expected to finish in the coming days according to Nación Servicios.
