Subaru Launches BRZ STI Sport Type RA in Japan as 300-Unit Lottery Special

STI channels Super Taikyu development into a driver-focused tune that targets smoothness rather than higher outputs.

Overview

  • All 300 cars will be sold in Japan via a dealer lottery, with applications open through the end of November.
  • Production is split between 200 wingless cars priced at ¥4,972,000 and 100 with a dry carbon rear wing at ¥5,478,000, with WR Blue Pearl standard and Crystal White optional.
  • The FA24 ‘balanced boxer’ employs tighter piston, conrod and crank tolerances plus a 67% lighter flywheel and 50% lighter clutch cover to improve refinement, with peak outputs unchanged.
  • A six-speed manual is the only transmission and gains automatic rev-matched downshifts and flat-foot upshifts.
  • Chassis and hardware upgrades include ZF dampers, stiffer bracing and a sway bar, Brembo brakes, a Torsen limited-slip differential, 18-inch BBS wheels, an STI muffler and diff-case cooling fins.
