- Rodriguez said the designation permanently protects the site and recognized it as the oldest Black-owned business in the San Fernando Valley.
- Founded in 1957 by Freddie and Ollie Carter and moved to its current location in 1977, StylesVille remains under Carter family stewardship.
- The barbershop has long served as a social hub and information pipeline for Pacoima’s Black community during segregation and subsequent decades.
- The landmark status is part of the African American Historic Places, Los Angeles project, which recently advanced several Black heritage site designations citywide.
